COMMERCIAL BUILDING IN PIAZZA BALÔN_ZERO

along Via Cottolengo Lanino in direction, towards the imposing of the Little House of Divine Providence, we see a big empty urban form triangular stops enfilades of antique shops featuring the streets of Borgo Dora.
This area has been under study for some time and in the years concerned by some project proposals from private property, however, remained unfulfilled.
Today promises a new phase of intervention that will to complete the recovery and regeneration of the wider area of Borgo Dora, concerned in recent years by significant investments in both public and private.
The area via Lanino was recently acquired by Wired Realty Ltd. which, acknowledging the input of the previous project, through collaboration with Arch. Longanizzi ZeStudio and implement a commercial building modeled on the British docks. The aim of the project: to develop a plan of completion of the lot consistent with the historic area where it is located.
The building called "Balôn_zero", in relation to its location in the historical context of the market Balon, insists on an area of 1900 square meters and involves the construction of a shopping mall, with two underground floors of parking space and two floors of commercial premises.
The building will consist of four bodies, each characterized by the geometric shape of the cover drum, piano, air shed. The front will overlook the main street Lanino while the other two sides are respectively addressed the structure of the Cottolengo and on private property for mixed commercial and residential.
The appearance of the building, divided into volumes of shapes and geometries, will be dominated by the facing brick and characterized by the use Zinc titanium.

The project under construction will accommodate new activities and we hope to offer important opportunities for revitalization of the area.

SPRING EDITION CONTINUES RECOVERY OF OLD MILITARY ARSENAL

Who knows how many residents and visitors of Borgo Dora wondered what it would have made of that building, long abandoned, along the Channel Molassi entrance to the courtyard of the Hammer? Today the building, which housed the old upholstery the Military has been completely renovated and upgraded, we have asked the Arch. Antonio Tondo, head of the project on behalf of Sermig, to answer a few questions.

What activities or host is already taking the building Channel Molassi restored?
The renovation of the upholstery of the old naval dockyards is completed. Home as early as October, in the first two floors, the School for Craftsmen Restorers Maria Luisa Rossi, art school recognized by the Piedmont Region as the Regional Training Agency. You log on approximately 70 young graduates to learn the ancient craft of art restoration. Ours is a school of excellence, in a neighborhood that has a tradition of trade but also crafts.
The second floor of the building by September 2010, will host a kindergarten of 75 seats (15 and 60 infants weaned). The decision to build a nursery is gained following the request the Councillor Educational System of the City of Turin, which has allowed the realization of the nest on the upper floors providing them set up a roof garden. This is a private nursery arrangement with the City of Turin. "The nest of Dialogue" to respond to the needs of Italian and foreign families, promoting dialogue and integration starting from the education of children. The management will be in collaboration with the "Free For All Co-scs" already expert in the field.

How long Sermig working on this project?
The renovation of the former Saddle began in late 2007.

The architectural design is not trivial, a few words about this choice.
Former Saddler was a beautiful late nineteenth century, two-storey load-bearing masonry with bricks, and plastered on the horizon with low arches vaults. The expansion plans of two initiated by the Fire Department included an increase of building height with the incorporation of seniority in a glass and iron structure with gabled roof in corrugated iron sheet. Our project therefore had to adapt to the metal structures are already installed and the existing buildings. With the architects George and Eraldo Comoglio therefore we sought a solution that would put emphasis on the source architecture of the building. The whole structure was enveloped in a "skin" perforated plate in order to homogenize all forms minimal as possible so as not to interfere with the design of the nearby building - Building Aloisio - and with the buildings in the form of sheds the late nineteenth century industrial across the street. We then chose to continue to adopt alternative energy sources with the arrangement of solar panels on roofs.

What has been invested? you have any financial partners?
The restructuring has cost approximately € 7 million. We have received 500,000 and 500,000 by the Compagnia San Paolo by the Piedmont Region. All the rest came from donations from ordinary people, young people, of individuals from all over Italy.

What are the timing of operation?
everything will be in operation before the summer, including housing on the top floor, where he lived a group of young people who chose Arsenal as home and work actively in the management of services that take place within the ' ex Saddlery.

How do you evaluate the impact that these new activities will have on the neighborhood? These two services
dell'Ospiteria stand alongside the Arsenal of Peace opened in 2006. With these renovations we believe that it contributed as depends on us, the redevelopment of the area. We have always tried to respect the old and to enhance it so that those who live, people who live in Borgo Dora and those who visit this corner of Turin, are harmonious spaces, clean, beautiful to see and live.

"First in March 2010, a day WITHOUT U.S. "

Project asked the Gate Ilda Curti, Assessor for integration, a comment for the day "First March 2010, a day without us " a major event non-violent Italian public opinion to understand how crucial the contribution of migrants to the estate and the functioning of our society.

" " Living in the world today and be against equality because of race or color is like living in Alaska and being against snow " W. Faulkner

Living in today's world, and Turin in Italy, and continue to oppose a "we" referred to a homogeneous and 'them' as defined and homogeneous is really like living in Alaska and being against snow.
The reality in which we find ourselves is far more mature, capable and attentive to the nuances of what is not said. Yet the story simple, brutal and bleak reality turns producing fractures, conflict and violence that make the most barbarous and sad just our being together, our continuing search for solutions and answers to the fatigue of cohabitation. Why living together is hard, takes time and work collectively.
not integration: interaction and coexistence in diversity. Cohabitation does not help the stability, continuity, the hierarchy of who has access to rights, denying them some pretend to give confidence to others.
The barbarism of civilized life we see in your eyes, in fear, distrust, in the words that fly in the tram, at work, in waiting rooms of hospitals.
There are no winners and losers, we are all losers if it passes the idea that society, people, people do not have the strength, energy and intelligence to build mode, balance, plots that make up the connective tissue of our life together. If it passes the idea that rights are not universal and equal for all by defeating the very idea of democracy for which an entire generation has been sacrificed.
Our connective tissue of all the inhabitants of towns, neighbors, the street market, bakers in the corner, classmates, co-workers, clients of the bar. Ours, of all. From anywhere in the world we come from. Whatever the language in which we dream at night, whatever the song that makes us weep with nostalgia, whatever the future we are building for our children.
We live in the snow, whether we like it or not.
is up to us to ensure that the snow there is someone who is dying of cold, someone slipping on the floor without anyone to help him get up. It's up to us to make sure that the snow there is the possibility of heat, to chat, to change his socks soaked, sing songs together in the mountains, to shake hands when there are ice floes that are stumbling.

Happy March 1st in all, this is the start of the thaw. "
