How To Clean An Old Silk Padded Kimono

LEARN TO KNOW! INTERVIEW WITH TWO STUDENTS Congolese studying Chinese.

This Sunday we return to focus on students in the square and we realize that we have a gazebo with Chinese students attended two very specific: Ayo, a Congolese mother , Dyana and her daughter! The curiosity pervades us, then we a chat with them.

Hello Ayo. It 's the first time you're in Republic Square to attend a language course?
'Tis some who come to the streets Sunday. We read an article in the newspaper which said "In the square you learn." We come from a town near Turin every Sunday morning, just to follow the course of Chinese language. We came back today because the teacher, Vittorio Patrucco, teaches with simplicity.

Why, Ayo, avetescelto to study the Chinese language?
Why is fascinating but it is also difficult. Actually that is my daughter Dyana is interested in being more than me ... and I will accompany you on Sunday, so I follow him too.

Dyana how old are you? What do you think of this square?

I am 19 years old. This is a great experience and I come to study Chinese in particular because I believe that, there being many Chinese in the world, sooner or later they will become widespread as the English language ... so it's important to know.

But what is today closer to knowing a new language? What is the reason why many people are in this square on Sunday morning to study Arabic, Chinese, Italian or Romanian?
Ayo: All This helps us to understand that languages are for everyone and it is easier to understand when you know the other's language. Ignorance is a bad disease! Integrate the other is very beautiful. The value is out of ignorance. Also learn a language, or something new, not just to foreigners but even the Italians themselves.

This testimony takes on an important value for us, and because it is reiterated that the language is able to go beyond itself, becoming a medium for participation and knowledge, and because the mix of people in their cultural diversity is a way of not have no fear of the other. It is suspicious of things that do not know ... and it is precisely to avoid that two Congolese women, living in Italy, decided to study Chinese!

What Is A Buttsqueeze.???

NOT ONLY LANGUAGE: LEARN IN PIAZZA And fairy tales / shadow play!

What's new in the square?
A shadow puppet show to accompany a story coming from distant China, and the decoration of his characters with the 'art of calligraphy a wise teacher: Mao Wen.
Sunday, April 18, in fact, children and families participating in "In the square learn " have traveled a road that connects our west with the east, to hear the reading of a traditional Chinese tale, inspired by a very old form of theater: the shadow puppetry precisely. The partnership started with the Cinema Museum in Turin, curator of the show, allows us to enter the ancient artistic fervor of one of the largest community in the area of Porta Palazzo: the Chinese.
The tale is an approach to reading, listening and mentalization for younger students to "learn in the square." Sunday, attracted by this experience, about 10 children accompanied by their parents, have colored our project. We speak
with Sabina De Petris who care for us laboratories dedicated to fairy tales.

Sabina, in addition to being an elementary school teacher, think and also organized workshops for kids and related to the world of fairy tales. Tales
Romanian, Chinese, Arabic, Sinhalese and more.
What kind of environment you are getting a Porta Palazzo, and how you had to re-adapt the lab to place "open" par excellence, which is the square of the Republic? Bring

laboratories fairy tales in the square was now a big challenge, because it is a very different context than where they usually had proposed that a school or a library. It 'an informal context in which I had to get involved because every time I did not know how many children were present and of what age, so the planned activities must also be flexible in that it must adapt to the context that every fairy tale comes to have. The moment that follows the reading of the play is dedicated to the construction of an object here, the best thing was the participation of parents, including many fathers, who willingly lent themselves to cut and paste with their children. The presence of parents was very good and also the fact that lend themselves to lend a hand, they stopped to ask for copies of drawings to take home. One last interesting thing was to keep in place the use a carpet on which everyone can sit down to listen and draw, it may seem strange to stand on a carpet square, where people usually go for the weekly market.

How do you think that listening to a Chinese fairy tale, the approach to writing based on characters and animation through the shadows of the Chinese Film Museum will educate? And most importantly, what to teach?

Listening to stories in different languages, even those who do not understand, they are an excellent way to educate and get used to listening, big and small, to the linguistic and cultural diversity around us and to which all too often we do not care, in a world that is increasingly becoming global from all points of view, discover the importance of the differences is valuable and rich. The use of shadow puppetry has further engaged the audience with simple but very direct way, allowed to dive deeper into the story and narrative, to discover an art so ancient, so simple and at the same time, very effective. The children have also tried to move the shadows, to build themselves and forget that I do not think it will constitute a portion of their wealth of knowledge, from now on. Both the art of shadow puppetry that the writing of Chinese characters is also an education in patience to do the slow and beauty, all of which often we do not have more time to grow, both adults and children. I believe that, once again, the square was, in this sense, a very important vehicle of new knowledge for the children or for adults to rediscover.

Thanks Sabina!

BORGO DORA THE GARDENS OF STUDENTS

Surely Porta Palazzo Borgo Dora and teeming with many places to so many activities and initiatives that, over time, have rekindled the spirit of the people and that of the district. Just as surely the area is dotted with play areas for children or places where parents and children can enjoy the afternoon together!
And 'from this simple and sad reflection that we started with the identification of "space should be taken" and the search was fast and easy: the space is already there and that is the gardens of Borgo Dora (Maglio hand, foot Sermig). It 'a space of District VII, which until last year had the inside game a bit' shabby and spaces well suited to the game but unfortunately the attendance was not exactly of mothers and children. We at Gate a couple of years we have tried to revive the area, initially involving some 'parents then spreading to the players on the territory and especially working immediately with the District VII. With the availability of the latter The gardens have seen the new games, the benches and repainted regularly clean spaces.
During the winter it was difficult to continue working but will return soon and we are not alone!
many associations, groups and people of the area and the City, many senior citizens and in many parents are at the starting ... read on and discover that the show gardens will Porta Palazzo!!

"LEARN TO SQUARE" Visit the MAO

languages, culture, art, traveling theaters, study of beauty ... are not words normally associated with a square Urban Sunday in his slumber, and yet at times it can be done!
Giving value to a space that Sunday morning is without its heart, the market, and could face apathy Sunday: this is an objective of our project "In the square you learn."
Sunday, April 11th at 12:00, the end of lessons in Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Romanian and Esperanto, the students of the square have had the opportunity to visit the MAO Museum of Oriental Art, with which our project has strict recently, a partnership.
We wondered what meaning could be the presence of a museum, so important to national level and not only as the MAO
We believe that this event has particular significance for people in transit, live or frequent the neighborhood and our lessons, as a powerful indicator of quality and cultural beauty that reach into the square, reaching a number of people and spreading a broader message: the culture should be for everyone.
So the museum calling out students' learn in the square, was released from their walls "formal", or maybe cut down to make them more familiar, accessible and affordable.
28 visitors to the museum: North African youth with young Italians, Chinese and Senegalese women children eager to add value to their Sunday to feel crisper, study, know and acculturate together!
